A HUGE thank you and well done to all of the Year 6’s who ran a stall at the school fair.  Each of them was a great success and they each added to the Christmas fair being as fun as it was.

Mrs Moreton, other teachers and parents commented on how polite, organised and responsible the stall holders were.

Good job!

Judges Lodgings

Our Victorian trip to the Judges Lodgings in Lancaster was an enjoyable one!

We began the day successfully as the whole class dressed up as Victorians (and looked ace!) We then drove up in the mini-buses with plenty of singing and dancing in the back of the bus!

Once we arrived we:

  • Took part in a Victorian School room (with a teacher who wasn’t as strict as the one at school)
  • Helped polish the brass in the Victorian Kitchen
  • Set the table for a posh Victorian dinner
  • Visited an old Victorian cottage
  • Learned that urine was a good way to remove stains!
  • Played with some Victorian toys

Overall it was an interesting trip that added to our knowledge about Victorians.

Did you enjoy yourselves?  Would you recommend it to others?

Victorian School Day

As part of our Victorian Topic, Year 6 took part in a Victorian School day.

Gone were the iPads, computers, pens and playground toys…instead were slates, ink pens and plenty of Victorian (less exciting) toys for break time.

The day began with drill on the yard and an inspection from the two Victorian teachers.

We continued with some arithmetic, reading and handwriting lessons.  These were all completed as we sat in rows with the girls and boys sat separately.  Most people could use ink or pencil though some children did have to use chalk or even be forced to sit our wearing the dunce’s hat!

In the afternoon we studied the Victorian Empire in a geography lesson.

What did you think?  Where the teacher’s strict?  Are you glad that you live now and not in the Victorian times?

Ice Skating

Year 6 have enjoyed ice skating lessons this term at Fylde Coast Arena.

We began with most of the class struggling to skate and needing penguins for support.

6 weeks later everyone (including Mr Waywell) can ice skate!  Roll on Christmas ice skating rinks!!!

Did you enjoy the lessons?
