As part of our Victorian Topic, Year 6 took part in a Victorian School day.
Gone were the iPads, computers, pens and playground toys…instead were slates, ink pens and plenty of Victorian (less exciting) toys for break time.
The day began with drill on the yard and an inspection from the two Victorian teachers.
We continued with some arithmetic, reading and handwriting lessons. These were all completed as we sat in rows with the girls and boys sat separately. Most people could use ink or pencil though some children did have to use chalk or even be forced to sit our wearing the dunce’s hat!
In the afternoon we studied the Victorian Empire in a geography lesson.
What did you think? Where the teacher’s strict? Are you glad that you live now and not in the Victorian times?
