This month Walking Club took 13 pupils to Houghton Bottoms.

After a week of horrible wet play times we were very lucky that it was  pleasant day – we even got to sit down for a picnic!

Along the way we:

  • Walked for a long time (just over 6 miles!)
  • Climbed many styles
  • Scared sheep
  • Got told not to scare any more sheep
  • Watched the boys secretly trying to wee as a bunch of hikers walked right behind them!
  • Walked through mud
  • Fell in mud
  • Got stuck in mud
  • Lost shoes in mud
  • Watched Mr Waywell dig in mud with his hands to rescue the shoes from mud
  • Threw stones in the river
  • Saw a very posh house

All in all it was another successful trip!  Roll on the next one in January, we are hoping to find somewhere that has snow!

Year 6 took part in our first ‘Mannequin Challenge’ today in PE.  Despite a few minor movements, I think it was a pretty good first attempt!  Watch out for some more attempts!

Book day was a fabulous success as everyone wore a costume based on a book character – including all of the teachers!

Year 6 were brilliant once more (day 2 of dressing up) and everyone wore a brilliant costume!  Sadly we had no Mrs Whitmore however Mr Waywell was Dumbledore!

Check out the pics…they look awesome!

As we end our ‘Tomorrow’s World’ topic we decided to theme our lessons based on spies for a week and have a ‘Spy’ dress up day.

Year 6 did not disappoint with their costumes and everyone looked brilliant in their spy disguises!  Throughout the week we:

  • Did some code breaking in maths
  • Designed a spy gadget in English
  • In PE we crept around like spies on the apparatus
  • We illustrated our gadgets in art
  • In grammar we solved murders with the past progressive
  • We decoded secret messages with algebra
  • Made good progress reading our Stormbreaker class novel
