Howdy Y’all!

Jake the Cowboy came to visit Year 6 to tell them all about the recent events on his ranch in Texas.

Sadly his cattle had been stolen by one of his friends.  We’re not sure who but hopefully Sheriff Dwayne Martin will get to the bottom of the event!

Mass at Sacred Heart

Posted by Mr Waywell on Sep-21-2017

Today Year 6 went to mass.  As our priest from Holy Family is on holiday, we decided to visit Sacred Heart church in town.

Thankfully the weather stopped raining so we could walk into town (hence the sea front photo).

Mass was lovely and a change to see a different church than our own.

How amazing are Year 6 at art!

Our focus was to show light and shadow by mixing colours and I think you can see from our display that the class nailed it!

Well done folks…I love your work!

Doug the Sumo

Posted by Mr Waywell on Sep-15-2017

Doug “Kung Po” Smith visited Year 6 this week to tell them all about his recent victory at the Sumo Championships in Japan.

We learned about his journey to success and his inspirations along the way.

Budding reporters, Year 6, are now writing an article to share his triumph!

Town Hall

Posted by Mr Waywell on Sep-8-2017

Today was our first trip of the year.  We visited the town hall to learn about its history.

We learned about:

  • The different mayors Blackpool has had
  • That it was built in Victorian times
  • We saw how decorative it was and learned what the pictures showed
  • We saw a lot of silver ornaments
  • We met the Mayor and Deputy mayor
  • We learned about his role and the ceremonies
  • We got to see his chambers

We then finished the visit with a vintage bus back to school.

What did you think of the trip?  Did you learn anything that I have not added?

Welcome to the new Year 6!
