Walking Club – Stannah

Posted by Mr Waywell on Oct-22-2017

This month’s Walking Club was to Stannah and Skippol Creek.

Although the day began with very strong winds,  we braved the elements and went ahead with Walking Club.

Along the way we:

  • Jumped in lots of puddles
  • Hid in long grass
  • Saw a lot of old boats
  • Played on the park
  • Span, span, span around on  a disc
  • Caught Pokemon
  • Were pushed higher than we expected on a swing
  • Scared some horses (not intentionally)
  • Jumped in more puddles
  • Ate delicious ice creams

All in all another great day out!

Camping

Posted by Mr Waywell on Oct-5-2017

As a welcome to Year 6 we camped on the school field last Friday for some team-building fun!

We began the evening at school at 5pm where the class arrived to find their tents.  The field was sooooo muddy (and after putting up all the tents, Mr Waywell was very muddy too!)

At 6pm Mrs Knight and Mrs McAllister whipped up some tea; a range of pizzas, garlic bread and chips…with plenty to go around we were all very full!

Following tea we played some team build games:

  • Arrange yourselves on benches without falling off
  • Best team name and team pose
  • Cross the hall on chairs
  • Team hockey
  • Pass the ball (knees first then chin!)
  • Hide and Seek (around the whole of the juniors)

Mid way through the evening we had time to grab an ice cream and watch the final Blackpool firework contest from the school field.

At bedtime we toasted marshmallows on the fire and set off for our tents (or the library for some of the girls).

Some got much more sleep than others and by 7am we were in the school hall eating toast and watching Home Alone.

After packing up it was time for home (and lots of afternoon naps!)

What did you think of the night?  Would you do it again?

Skittles

Fractions, fractions, fractions…there are so many different things to do with them in Year 6!

Our favourite is to use Skittles to help reduce them – delicious!

Macmillan Coffee Afternoon

Posted by Mr Waywell on Oct-5-2017

To help raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support, school held a coffee afternoon last Friday.

Year 6 did their part to help too!  Mr Waywell baked a ton of cakes on Thursday night and then Year 6 used their skills to decorate them.  Didn’t they do a good job!

Kingdom of God

Posted by Mr Waywell on Oct-5-2017

In RE we have been learning about the Kingdom of God.  We looked at what it is, the values needed to be a part of it and why people choose to be a member.

What better way to show what we have learned than to make an “American-Themed” TV advert!

There’s some amazing accents to listen too!
