Year 6 @ Holy Family

Class of 2017/18

Buddhist Temple

Posted by Mr Waywell on Apr-10-2018

Our World Faith in Year 6 is Buddhism.

As a part of our studies we went to visit Manjushri Kadampa Meditation Centre Conishead in Ulverston.

The drive was a good one and we had beautiful weather for the day.

When we arrived we were amazed at how spectacular the temple looked as you entered the drive.

Once we arrived we learned about Buddhism, looked at the different Buddhist symbols and why they are chosen and then got to visit the temple.  Inside a monk taught us about Buddah and showed us how to meditate.  We also got time to look around at more statues and symbols.

After lunch we did some sketches of different symbols and then took a walk to the bay.  Here we threw stones in the river, sang Happy Birthday to Boo (and ate cakes)…thanks Boo; and played hide and seek in the woods.

What a great day!
